Academic Excellence

Monrovia High School has traditional six-period day that supports a rigorous academic program while allowing students to participate in electives. Six, sixty-minute periods encompass the school day. MHS has a strong CTE program that allows real-world experience for both college and career-bound students.

Monrovia High School’s College-Going Culture activities are part of the district’s program that received the Golden Bell award from the California School Boards Association (CSBA). The activities include college fairs, college visits, college speakers, college application workshops, financial aide workshops and an after-school SAT prep course.

The school has increased the number of students who take the SAT and is a designated test site for the College Board’s administration of the SAT. The number of scholarships received by students continues to increase and the number of students accepted by colleges and universities is increasing as well. Among the colleges and universities of acceptance are: UCLA, UC Santa Barbara, UC Irvine, UC San Diego, UC Berkeley, Georgetown, Dartmouth, UC Santa Cruz, N.Y.U., George Mason University, Tufts, Azusa Pacific University, and the University of Georgia.
