WHAT IS THE EARLY COLLEGE PROGRAM?

Early College is a free, structured program of study allowing students to earn a high school diploma and up to 58 units of transferable college credit with the goal of completing the UC/CSU Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum, having the possibility of earning additional units to obtain an Associate's degree, and earning a graduation seal of recognition.  Students in the Early College Program will earn college credit during the school day while simultaneously earning high school credit. Students will also receive free, in-class tutoring. Early College students are exempt from payment of registration, tuition, books and laboratory fees.

 

MINIMUM ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS: (Not to be submitted with application.  These requirements will be verified through the district office).

  • Successful completion of 8th grade courses
  • Consistent academic performance in core subject area
  • Regular school attendance

 

CONTINUATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Students must successfully complete the mandatory Counseling 160 course with the cohort during the summer prior to Grade 9 to maintain eligibility. This course may not be taken independently.
  • Summer school dates are to be determined and will be shared at a later date.
  • Students must pass all Early College courses with a C or higher for continued eligibility.
  • Students must maintain a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA at Citrus College and a minimum 3.0 unweighted cumulative high school GPA.

IMPORTANT DATES & DEADLINES:

 

  • Online application survey must be completed by 10:00 pm on Friday, March 6, 2026.
  • Students not enrolled in a Monrovia Unified School must submit the most current transcript and attendance record. After completing the online application, documents may be scanned and emailed to [email protected] , hand delivered or mailed to Monrovia High School, 845 W. Colorado Blvd. Monrovia, CA 91016, Attn: Mrs. Ramirez, Assistant Principal by 10:00 pm on Friday, March 6, 2026.
  • Each applicant will receive a letter indicating either contingent acceptance or non-acceptance into the MUSD Early College Program. Decision notifications will be emailed on Friday, March 13, 2026.
  • A return online decision must be received from the student and parents/guardians by Wednesday, March 18, 2026.
  • If a student declines or fails to accept an offer of admission to the Early College Program, their seat will not be guaranteed for the 2026-2027 school year.
