MHS Earns Silver Recognition on the 2023 AP School Honor Roll

MONROVIA - Monrovia High School (MHS) proudly announces its Silver recognition on the 2023 AP School Honor Roll. This accolade is a testament to MHS's dedication to excellence in education, demonstrating remarkable results and ensuring equitable access to its students' Advanced Placement (AP) programs.

"I am grateful for the vision from our School Board and Executive Cabinet in creating a College and Career culture for all of our students," said MHS principal Adrian Ayala. "This recognition directly results from excellent teaching and student motivation to excel in their chosen Advanced Placement courses. Congratulations to everyone involved in our commitment to providing our students with an exceptional education."

The AP School Honor Roll celebrates educational institutions that have fostered a college-going culture, facilitated opportunities for students to earn college credit, and enhanced overall college readiness. This recognition program offers four distinct levels of distinction: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum, with MHS proudly achieving the Silver status.

One of the standout achievements of MHS is its commitment to inclusivity by making AP exams free for students this past school year. Without the barrier of exam fees, nearly 60 percent of seniors took at least one AP exam during their high school journey. Furthermore, over 30 percent of seniors scored a commendable three or higher on at least one AP exam. Impressively, almost 17 percent of MHS seniors took on the formidable challenge of five or more AP exams.

The College Board's Advanced PlacementĀ® Program (APĀ®) plays a pivotal role in MHS's educational landscape, enabling students to engage in college-level coursework while still in high school. These classes give them the unique opportunity to earn college credits, attain advanced placement in higher education, or even both.

The Silver recognition on the 2023 AP School Honor Roll is a testament to the hard work and dedication of MHS's students, teachers, and staff as they progress toward a brighter educational future. Congratulations, Monrovia High School!
