All minors ages 12 through 17 must have a work permit on file with the employer during the term of employment. Work permits are not required for baby-sitting or yard work, sale or delivery of newspaper if self-employed, or other forms of self-employment. The procedure for obtaining a permit is as follows:
1. Student finds a job offer that does not interfere with school
2. Requests for work permit may be picked up at the College & Career Center, Room 109 (application also attached)
3. Student, employer and parent must fill the form
4. Once completed return it to the College & Career Center. Counselor will check student's grades, attendance, and GPA
The student may pick up the completed permit and take it to the employer. Only then, may the student begin working.
Students wishing extended hours may enroll in an ROP/Cooperate Vocational Educational class. A work permit may be revoked for unsatisfactory school attendance, behavior, or any failing grade.
