Work Permits

All minors ages 12 through 17 must have a work permit on file with the employer during the term of employment. To qualify for a work permit, student must meet the following requirements:

  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA with no fails (last quarter/semester grades checked for eligibility).
  • Maintain good attendance (no excessive excused/unexcused absences or tardies).
  • Maintain good school behavior (no excessive referrals, detentions, in-school or home suspensions).

Work permits are not required for babysitting or yard work, sale or delivery of newspaper if self-employed, or other forms of self-employment. The procedure for obtaining a permit is as follows:

  1. Student finds a job offer that does not interfere with school
  2. Student requests work permit after employment has been offered
     * All students with last name A through Guerrero - See Mrs. Bañuelos in Room 103
     * All students with last name Guevara through Panossian - See Mrs. Ramos in Room 104
     * All students with last name Paredes through Z - See Mrs. Garcia in Room 111
  3. Student, employer, and parent must fill the form
  4. Once completed, return it to the office/secretary you received your application from. The administrator will verify the student's grades, attendance, and GPA

The student may pick up the completed permit and take it to the employer. Only then may the student begin working.

A work permit may be revoked for unsatisfactory school attendance, behavior, or failing grades.
